We need YOUR help!!!
Was has happened?
The Tanoé-Forest - one of the most valuable of Africas magnificent forests - will be destroyed soon! Situated in the eastern Ivory Coast it has been in the focus of the Heidelberg based Conservation Organisation WAPCA for some time.
End of February 2008 PALMCI an Ivorian Company started to cut the forest down to raise a palm oil plantation. Tanoé-Forest with its 6000 ha harbours still globally significant population of several endangered primate species:
- Scientists discovered in march 2008 a fresh skin of the Miss Waldron´s Red Colobus which was announced to be extinct in 2001. They even heard callings of this species which might occur only here.
- The Roloway Guenon only occur in the eastern Ivory Coast and western Ghana. In Tanoé-Forest the largest population which could be found since several years has been detected. It might be the largest population in the world.
- Similar is the situation for the White-Naped-Managbey and in a lesser degree for the Geoffroy´s Pied Colobus.
Beside these endangered animals Tanoé contains a huge amount of Biodiversity and alone 19 Plant species which are endemic in West Africa 15 of them listed on the red list of IUCN.
How can YOU help?
Please raise your voice against this destruction. Sign the petition online on the website
www.manifeste-fmt.org
So YOU can help to show enough public interest in Tanoé-Forest to stop the destruction.
The goal is to raise 10.000 signatures as soon as possible.
Please help us one step further as well! Tell your friends, colleagues etc. about it and send them this mail or the link as well. You may also link the petition with your website.
Please help us!
Additional information and pictures of these wonderful creatures you can find on the website www.manifeste-fmt.org and on www.WAPCA.org. Please understand that we might not be able to prevent that you get this mail twice from different sources.
We would be very glad if you could help us to save some of the most threatened animals species on earth.
Thank YOU
